Our Volunteers 2017-08-07T20:56:14+00:00

Call of the Sea is supported by the time and effort of hundreds of volunteers. Over 150,000 volunteer hours have been logged during the construction of the tall ship Matthew Turner.

For many of our volunteers, being a part of this historical project is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our volunteers learn new skills, make new friends and have the satisfaction of knowing they have contributed to the tall ship which will represent the Bay Area and provide education under sail to students for generations to come.

Matthew Turner was launched on April 1, 2017 and is now berthed at the Army Corps of Engineers pier at the Bay Model in Sausalito. Final construction of the rig, systems and interior will take place through 2017, and we need your help to finish!

We accept volunteers of all skill levels, aged 15+, with opportunities in the following areas: construction, office/administration, fundraising, education, guest lunch chef, and special events. Experience with building, construction, engineering, electrical and plumbing is especially needed for the final construction phase.

Thank you for joining this effort.
