Call of the Sea is supported by the time and effort of hundreds of volunteers. Over 200,000 volunteer hours have been logged during the construction of the tall ship Matthew Turner and subsequently.
For many of our volunteers, being a part of this historical project was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our volunteers learned new skills, made new friends and have the satisfaction of knowing they have contributed to the tall ship which will represent the Bay Area and provide education under sail to students for generations to come.
We accept volunteers of all skill levels, aged 15+, with opportunities in the following areas: vessel enhancement, office/administration, fundraising, education, media, photography, guest lunch chef, and special events. Volunteers with experience in painting, varnishing, and general vessel maintenance will be needed on an ongoing basis.
