Ahoy! Join our crew!
Call of the Sea invites you to join our newly revamped Sailing Volunteer Crew Training! If you are interested in learning to sail a tall ship and joining our crew, please plan on joining us March 22 (10am-3pm) and at least one of April 4 (9am-6pm) or May 3 (9am-6pm). March 22 will be dockside, with the April and May events beginning at the dock followed by a sail in the afternoon.
We are requiring advanced signup and a $50 fee. Space is limited! If you are new to Call of the Sea, sign up now by using the intake form at left and enter “TRAINING” and the dates you are available in the comments! Signups for the March 22 dockside event are requested by Friday, March 20, 2026 at 12noon. While attendance at this initial dockside date is highly encouraged, it is not required to participate in one of our later training sail dates.
*Registration fees go towards educational materials and lunch for the training days as well as miscellaneous costs later in the volunteer journey. Link to pay this fee will be provided upon signup confirmation.
Yes, that’s right! Lunch will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle, close-toed shoes, appropriate sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), and an enthusiastic attitude!
Training will be on board Matthew Turner at the Bay Model Pier. Address is 2100 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965, and parking is available. If you are new to Call of the Sea, please plan to meet outside the Bay Model gate approximately 15 minutes before the training start time to sign in.
Please note: sailing volunteers should have some physical fitness abilities including the ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods (e.g. 3 hours) of time. Volunteers interested in becoming aloft qualified may be subject to additional physical requirements.
We look forward to seeing you on board!
