William Randolph Hearst Foundation
The Hearst Foundations are national philanthropic resources for organizations working in the fields of culture, education, health and social services. They identify and fund outstanding nonprofits to ensure that people of all backgrounds in the United States have the opportunity to build healthy, productive and satisfying lives. In 2022 Call of the Sea received a grant of $125,000 restricted to scholarships for on-the-water education and transportation for schools.
William H. Donner Foundation
The William H. Donner Foundation was established in 1962, but traces its roots back to the International Cancer Research Foundation established by William Henry Donner (1864-1953) following the 1929 death of his son, Joseph, from lung cancer. Today, the third, fourth, and fifth generations of William Donner’s family are active participants in the foundation, whose grants support a wide range of charitable work.
The Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation honors the Newhall family’s legacy by supporting California nonprofits offering academic and cultural enrichment programs for children and youth; agriculture, animal welfare, and conservation programs; historical preservation programs; and programs for under-served populations.

LCG Foundation (a supporter of Call of the Sea) is a private grant-making 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that specializes in distributing financial grants to improve education. They partner with private donors that want to help teachers, educators, or improve the systems of education, offering grants to U.S. PK-12 educators in an easy and flexible way to support their practice & providing a PK-12 grant experience that prioritizes educator needs and demonstrates its impact.
