Schooner Seaward
Brigantine Matthew Turner
Call of the Sea operates the 82 foot schooner Seaward as a platform for experiential, environmental education for Bay Area youth. The vessel is U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified to carry passengers. The trained crew of mariners and educators engage students by guiding hands-on activities, using navigational charts, microscopes, plankton nets, and various water sampling tools to support a wide range of curriculum needs.
Call of the Sea completed construction of 132 foot brigantine Matthew Turner, in 2020. Built primarily by volunteers in Sausalito, between 2013-2020. This educational tall ship has increased Call of the Sea’s on-the-water education programs, serving as an experiential education platform for youth and the public, sailing the San Francisco Bay, the Gulf of the Farallones and along the California coast.
