Jessica Bucklin will take the helm of Seaward on July 13 as Captain for a 3 week session of Call of the Sea’s Young Salts Adventure Camp. She started on Seaward as Mate in the spring of 2019 and has sailed her around San Francisco Bay and along the California Coast for educational sails. In January 2020 she crewed as mate on Seaward to Mexico and back with mostly adults who booked passages to gain offshore sailing experience or to explore and enjoy the Mexican waters. She is happy to be back sailing Seaward on the Bay, now as a Captain. Captain Jay Grant will also continue to captain Seaward for Call of the Sea programming.
She has previously worked on a number of boats overseeing student and crew sail training around the country and abroad. Past posts include Exy Johnson, US Brig Niagara, Gulden Leeuw, Pride of Baltimore II, Spike Africa, Adventuress, and Lady Washington.
