This year, Call of the Sea’s annual Gala is extra special as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of Call of the Sea.
That’s 40 years of:
- Helping students learn about the ocean and discover its richness
- Improving lives in the diverse Bay Area community by helping young sailors experience the thrill of sailing tall ships
- Sending some of our deckhands on to maritime academies and careers at sea
And importantly, it’s 40 years of incredible support from the Call of the Sea community to ensure that our unique experiential education and maritime history program continues to expand and include the latest scientific and historical discoveries.
Students learn about maritime history, navigation, seamanship, oceanography and much more!
Thank you! It’s because of donors like you that more than 40% of the young people we serve are able to sail and learn with us through scholarships and transportation subsidies.
As we look to the future, we continue to focus on strengthening our impact. We are working to:
- Increase the accessibility of our programs to a broader range of students and underserved groups through scholarships and travel subsidies
- Deepen the environmental education we offer, and
- Provide a greater variety of voyages and sailing experiences
We need to inspire a generation of young people who embody a love of the natural world and who feel a genuine call to create solutions that will result in a healthy climate. Our programs have never been more needed.
This year we face extraordinary challenges. As you are no doubt aware, the cost of everything has risen. That includes insurance, fuel, food for the crew, spare parts, paint, lines, and well, everything!
Call of the Sea’s on the water programs give students a chance to experience hands-on STEM education that promotes environmental stewardship and builds self confidence.
That is why we’re asking you to help us celebrate our 40th anniversary and achieve our goals with a generous gift of sponsorship for our gala on October 25, 2024, at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon. Proceeds will strengthen scholarship funds and help cover bus transportation costs, to serve a wider range of in-need children than ever before. Your sponsorship will also support boat maintenance, and general operating costs, ensuring a strong next 40 years for Call of the Sea.
