Rainy Day Crew
A good sized Volunteer crew showed up for the morning meeting and a rainy work day at the tall Ship Tent! Work is progressing on the spars, fittings and rigging.

Come look inside Matthew Turner to see the work down below in the engine room. Steve Maiero is installing the batter housing, and Alan is showing the Coast Guard inspectors the work. Raw water filter and plumbing parts are ready for installation.
Matthew Turner Progress 12/21/17
Today's work on Matthew Turner's yards and main staysail boom. Dan Higgins with one of the yokes he has welded. The four long pieces on the sawhorse are the spreaders. He is also working with Newcomb Barger on the gooseneck fitting for the main staysail boom.

Welding
Dan Higgins has been busy welding! Here he is with the course yard yoke, the upper topsail yard yoke, and a couple more rigging fittings.
Hailing Port
Many people wonder why brigantine Matthew Turner has San Francisco instead of Sausalito as her hailing port. One reason is that our namesake, the builder Matthew Turner used San Francisco as the port on Galilee and other vessels he built, even though they were built in Benicia or elsewhere in the bay.
Ships’ Projects
Today at the Shipyard, the crew is working on: dolphins to decorate Seaward for the lighted boat parade, fittings on the yards, and chart house port covers (for heavy weather).

Time Aloft
Randall Landaiche and Noah Limbach were the topmast crew on Dec 1st. Gorgeous sunny day, but after 4 hours aloft, they were a bit chilled.
