The sun is shining, the winds are up, and Matthew Turner was Rocking the Dock this past weekend.
On our first trip ever down to the South Bay, Call of the Sea visited the Port of Redwood City, hosting more than 350 people on board at a free open house.
Guests included families with young kids who followed clues around the ship in a treasure hunt; a group of students in the Maritime Trades Program from Redwood High School in Redwood City who got to climb aloft for the first time; Sequoia Yacht Club youth sailors; educators from San Mateo schools; and sailors or wannabe tall ship sailors of all ages. Thank you to the Port of Redwood City and Sequoia Yacht Club for welcoming Call of the Sea.

It was wonderful to witness the amazement on people’s faces at the skill and craftsmanship of the builders of Matthew Turner as they were also learning about life on board directly from her crew. Sharing our enthusiasm for working with youth and providing more access to the ocean and its wonders with a whole new group of people was great fun!
