Call of the Sea hosted the annual West Coast Tall Ships America (TSA) Community Muster at the Bay Model in Sausalito, November 7-9, 2026.

It’s always refreshing to come together in-person – board, management and sailors sharing social time, a sailing experience, and learning together.  About 25 people attended.  Joining us remotely was a representative of the Coast Guard who was able to both clarify and expedite the communication about current regulations regarding tall ships.   Eric Jones, newly appointed Superintendent of California Maritime Academy, informed the group about the recent merger with Cal Poly.  (He is also a former Captain of “America’s Tall Ship” Eagle.)  This local college provides Merchant Marine training and continuing education courses.    In addition to the sessions at the Bay Model, Paul and Marina of Freda B. hosted the group for drinks before dinner at the Spinnaker Restaurant.  Spaulding Marine Center provided a tour and information about their unique workforce development program and Apprenticeship.

TSA now arranges five annual gatherings of ship operators for learning and mutual problem-solving.  By doing so they have increased communication between tall ship operators and the management of the membership organization.
