When faced with an injury or sudden illness in a remote location it is critical to know what to look for and how to respond. This 16-hour Wilderness First Aid class will teach you how to handle common injuries and illnesses when medical care is an hour or more away. It is designed for hikers, skiers, sailors, and other outdoor recreationists, and for those who live or work in remote locations. It covers the most current practice guidelines and assessment best practices. It will also address emergencies at sea and in the maritime environment.

The $275 course fee includes all books and learning materials. On successful completion the student will receive a two-year WFA card from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute.

Instructor Biography

Gordon H. Worley, MSN, RN, FNP-C, FAWM, is a retired emergency nurse practitioner and a volunteer sailing crew member at Call of the Sea. He spent over 40 years of in emergency medical care as an emergency nurse practitioner, emergency nurse, flight nurse, author, and educator. He has taught nursing, EMS, and wilderness medicine courses and workshops across the U.S, in Canada and in Europe. Gordon is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society and a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.
