We are only 40 days away from our signature fall event – the Call of the Sea Gala – at the St. Francis Yacht Club on Saturday, October 3.
40 days is fast! In fact, Galilee, the brigantine that inspired our iconic tall ship, Matthew Turner, made a record-setting round trip from San Francisco to Tahiti in 1891 on her maiden voyage in just 40 days – 19 days out and 21 days back. A record that stood for many years.

The event promises to be a special one. Superintendent of Cal Poly Maritime Academy, Rear Admiral (Ret.) USCG Eric C. Jones joins us as the keynote speaker. Admiral Jones commanded the U.S. Coast Guard’s USCGC EAGLE – America’s Tall Ship.
Returning this year in his role as Master of Ceremonies is beloved Bay Area sports broadcaster Vern Glenn. Vern is a multiple Emmy winner and a deeply involved member of the Bay Area sports and youth communities.
