Call of the Sea periodically hosts teachers and their supporters for educational partner and teacher appreciation sails.  We recently spent a weekend, August 13 & 14, hosting 60 teachers and family members on 3 hour educational sails.  We aim to provide inspiration, showcase our educational platform and interactive learning activities and most of all, show teachers a really good time!

Volunteer Chad Brubaker discussing Celestial Navigation with Dr. Desire’ Whitmore, PHD, of the Exploratorium, also known as Laserchick.

Crew member/volunteer coordinator Ariella Yendler teaching knots.  Ariella also guided inquiry about interesting objects and their use on the ship or in the Bay.

Volunteer Mike Wing, also a teacher at Archie Williams High School, discussing phyto and zooplankton with teachers and teacher’s kids.

A teacher helping his daughter learn to tie knots.  The knot tying station is always a big hit with all ages, but especially younger students.

To be added to our invite list for teacher’s sails, please note the school or organization and what grade or age you teach,  in the newsletter sign up form.
